The service
One material, fitted to the tolerance it was manufactured for
uPVC window and door installation covers the supply and fitting of multi-chambered rigid plastic frames, glazed with sealed units and hung with multi-point locking hardware. The frames are welded at the corners, reinforced where the span requires it, and designed so still air trapped inside the chambers does a large part of the insulating work before the glass is even considered.
It suits any household that wants the practical benefits of modern glazing without a maintenance commitment. There is no sanding, no filling, no repainting cycle and no rot developing quietly behind a paint film. Washing the frames down twice a year and occasionally lubricating the hardware is genuinely the whole routine.
Most people come to us at one of three moments: the existing timber has started to rot and the decorating cost has become annual; the existing uPVC is from the 1990s and the frames have yellowed, the units have misted and the hardware has worn out; or a property has just changed hands and the new owner wants the whole envelope brought up to a consistent standard in one go.
The reason professional fitting matters here is that uPVC is unforgiving of a poor opening. The frame is only as square as the packers behind it, and a frame that is out of square will bind, drop and stress its welds. We measure every opening on its own dimensions, pack and mechanically fix rather than relying on foam, and set the hardware to the manufacturer's tolerance so the lock throws without being lifted.
Who it is for
Homeowners tired of repainting timber, landlords who need a low-maintenance envelope, and anyone replacing early uPVC that has yellowed, misted or worn out.
When it is needed
Rotting timber frames, discoloured or brittle old uPVC, misted units across several windows, doors that stick, or hardware that no longer locks cleanly.
What is included
Survey, individual measurement, supply of frames, glazing and hardware, removal and disposal of the old units, fitting, sealing, testing and guarantee registration.
What happens if it waits
Old frames cost money in three directions at once
Tired frames leak heat, invite moisture and stop locking properly, and the three problems feed each other. A frame that has dropped no longer compresses its seals, so the draught worsens; the cold surface brings condensation; the moisture softens the reveal and the timber cill; and the hardware, now working against a distorted opening, wears faster still.
Timber owners feel it as an annual bill. Every couple of years the frames need rubbing down and repainting, and every cycle the filler covers slightly more soft wood than the last. Eventually the paint is the only thing holding the cill together, and what began as decoration becomes joinery.
The mistake we most often correct is a like-for-like swap done at speed by a fitter chasing a day rate. Frames foamed in without mechanical fixings, no packers at the load points, no cill end caps, expanding foam trimmed flush and silicone run over the gap. It photographs well on completion day and starts to move within two winters: usually after the installer has stopped answering the phone.
The decorating cycle never ends
Timber frames demand repainting every few years, and each cycle hides more soft wood than the last until the cill needs cutting out.
Heat leaving around the frame
Perished seals and dropped sashes leave a draught line the best glass in the world cannot compensate for.
Locks that no longer protect
Distorted openings wear the multi-point gear. A lock that has to be lifted and shoved is a lock that is close to failing altogether.
Damp working into the fabric
Condensation on cold frames soaks reveals, plaster and cill boards, adding replastering and redecoration to the eventual bill.
Our process
How a uPVC installation runs, start to finish
Every job follows the same five stages so nothing is decided on the day and nothing is priced after the fact.
- STEP 1
Inspection
We look at the existing frames, cills, reveals and hardware, and identify anything structural that needs attention before new frames go in.
- STEP 2
Specification & written price
You choose profile, finish, opener configuration, glass and hardware. Every opening is measured and the whole lot is priced in writing.
- STEP 3
Manufacture
Frames are welded and glazed to your measurements and finish, with reinforcement where spans and door leaves require it.
- STEP 4
Installation
Old frames out and away, new frames packed, levelled, mechanically fixed, sealed inside and out, trims and cills finished neatly.
- STEP 5
Testing & guarantee
Every opener, hinge, handle and lock is adjusted and tested, the site is cleared, and the 10-year insurance backed guarantee is registered.
What you get
Why uPVC is the default choice on most Staffordshire properties
Maintenance measured in minutes
Wash the frames down, keep the drainage slots clear and oil the hardware occasionally. No sanding, no filling, no repainting weekends.
Thermal performance built into the frame
Multi-chambered profiles trap still air before the glazing is considered, so the whole unit, not just the glass, resists heat loss.
Stable in Staffordshire weather
uPVC does not swell in wet spells or shrink in dry ones, so the frames keep the same tolerance against the seals through the year.
Security as standard
Multi-point locking, internally beaded glazing and correctly aligned keeps mean the frame resists forcing rather than relying on one central catch.
Finishes that suit the street
White, anthracite, woodgrain foils and dual-colour options let you match a period terrace or a modern rendered frontage without compromise.
Cover that outlasts the fitter
Assure certification plus a 10-year insurance backed guarantee means the protection sits with an independent scheme, not a trading name.
In detail
Profiles, hardware, configurations and where each one belongs
The right specification depends on the property, the elevation and how the room is used. These are the decisions that actually change the outcome.
Profile systems and reinforcement
Modern uPVC profiles are multi-chambered, and the number of chambers directly affects the thermal figure. Larger spans, wide openers and door leaves carry steel or composite reinforcement inside the chamber so the frame does not bow under wind load or under the weight of the sash.
Beading is internal on all opening lights, which means the glazing cannot be removed from the outside. Drainage is designed into the outer chamber so water that gets past the outer seal is channelled back out rather than sitting in the frame.
Door types and hardware
uPVC doors cover front, back, side and utility entrances, with panel, half-glazed and fully glazed configurations. Kitchen and utility doors usually take a mid-rail and obscure or toughened glazing; back doors that see heavy family use benefit from a solid lower panel that shrugs off knocks.
Hardware specification is where longevity is won. Multi-point locking with hooks and rollers, anti-snap and anti-bump cylinders, adjustable hinges and quality handles keep the door secure and let us fine-tune the closing action years later rather than replacing the leaf.
Window configurations
Casement layouts are set by how the room is used: a top-hung vent over a fixed light suits a bedroom that needs background ventilation, while a side-hung full opener suits a ground-floor room used for access to a cill or for cleaning.
Fire escape hinges are specified where a first-floor bedroom needs an escape route, and restrictors are fitted where child safety matters. Trickle ventilation is provided where Building Regulations require it: a detail routinely omitted by cheap installations and picked up on certification.
Residential and commercial applications
In houses and flats we work room by room, protect floors and furniture, and leave the property secure and weathertight every evening. Old frames, glass and packaging leave with us the same day.
For shops, offices and tenanted property the constraints are trading hours, access and tenant notice. Larger programmes are phased so the building stays secure and usable, and each phase is signed off before the next elevation begins.

Common questions

If your question is not here, call Anthony Jones on 01782 479526. A two-minute conversation usually settles it, and there is never any pressure to book.
How much do uPVC windows and doors cost?+
It depends on the number of openings, sizes, opener configuration, glass specification and finish: a woodgrain dual-colour bay is a different job from a white bedroom casement. We survey, measure every opening and put a full price in writing with nothing added later.
Is there a charge for the survey or quotation?+
No. The survey and written quotation are free and carry no obligation, and there are no time-limited discounts designed to rush a decision.
How long does a uPVC installation take?+
A single window or door is usually a few hours. A full house of eight to ten openings typically takes one to three days depending on access, bay work and making good. The expected duration is stated in the quotation.
How long do uPVC frames last?+
A quality multi-chambered frame that has been fitted square and sealed properly should give decades of service. Sealed units and hardware are the wearing parts and both can be replaced without disturbing the frame.
Do coloured and woodgrain frames fade?+
Modern foils are laminated and UV-stable, and they hold their colour far better than the painted and early-coloured frames of the 1990s. They are washed down like any other frame; they are never repainted.
What guarantee do I get?+
Every installation is covered by a 10-year insurance backed guarantee and completed under Assure certification, which independently checks compliance with Building Regulations. We handle the certification paperwork for you.
Can you match new frames to windows I already have?+
In most cases, yes. We match the profile style, finish and opener layout as closely as the system allows so a partial replacement does not look like a patch.
Can you fit a uPVC door on its own?+
Yes. Single door replacements are quoted and fitted as readily as full-house programmes, including back doors, utility doors and side entrances.
Do you remove and dispose of the old frames?+
Yes. Removal, disposal and clearing up are included in the price. Nothing is left in the garden for you to deal with.
Which areas do you install in?+
Stoke-on-Trent and the surrounding Staffordshire and Cheshire towns, including Newcastle-under-Lyme, Crewe, Sandbach, Stone, Alsager, Birches Head and Milton.
